On Socks

I used to knit socks on a fairly regular basis.  Then I just stopped.  I'm not quite sure why since comparatively speaking socks are a pretty quick knit.

Kelly wrote about making more socks this year, and I got me to thinking about my unfinished projects.  I went through my stash of UFOs (UnFinished Objects to the unanointed) and dug out these beauties.  Long ago pushed aside for a billion test knits for Alicia, but not forgotten.

These are a little bit further along, but not by much.  According to their Ravelry page I started them in December 2011.  For shame.

My first pair of stranded socks.  I dove into these head first, and then... I have no idea.  I do know that I decided to start them over because I was afraid that my tension will be off.

A few days ago Kelly mentioned maybe hosting a sock KAL.  The Aidez KAL went extremely well, so why not?  This caused me to take a peek at my fingering stash.  I think I might be able to find something to work with.

A portion of my solids, semi-solids & kettle dyes

I have another container completely devoted to self striping.  I think I need a support group.

I need to get through the solids and match a few skeins to patterns that I have been wanting to knit.  I did manage to pick my favorite striping yarns that I want to knit next.

I'm waiting to see what the KAL selection could be then I'll make some further decisions.  I'm also getting ready to test a child version of Ease for Alicia.  Very excited for that, the Bug will be so cute.  I got some Quince & Co Lark in the Lupine color.  I can't wait for it to arrive and get started.

    1. Thanks! All it took was blogging about them. I turned the heel on the first striped on last night and am ready for the second once I get some coffee.

I do think socks are one of my favorite projects, I don't know why I pushed them aside for so long.

  2. I want your yarn stash!!! Beautiful! I really want to try vesper this year, I've drooled over it for years. The sock monkey colours are perfect.

    1. Thanks! It's all due to a lack of self control, ha!

Make sure you are on Julia's mailing list so you can get emails about updates, her stuff goes pretty fast. Look at my stash on Rav. I can part with Hellfire or Creamsicle, if you want either of those PM me your address. Twitterpated could be up for grabs, too, but it's already wound, I started some socks and ripped them a while ago.
