Ushering in the New Year

I think we all look back at the year that is about to pass and go over things we:

  1. Wish we had done
  2. Wish we hadn't done
  3. Wish we had done differently
I am no different.  I am not much of a resolution maker either, or if I do, they definitely not life changing.

We want to exercise more, eat better, take better care of ourselves.  All of the things are great ways to bring in the New Year.  I think I take pretty good care of myself, I run, and running allows me to be able to eat like crap.  Or so I think.

I have no resolutions for the New Year.  I am making goals, more or less.  Inspired by Awesomely Awake's 20 Realistic Parenting Resolutions, I know that these are a few things that I can truly work towards in the New Year.  Even if you aren't a parent this list is an amazing jumping off point for this coming year when it comes to life.

I know I am high strung.  I know I am stressed to the point of jumping off a bridge some days.  I know I have a hard time some days just letting it be.  I also know that these are things I need to work on and I am hoping this list can be leaned on as a starting point.

I am also starting marathon training and have decided to use Yoga as my cross training.  I believe that the meditation in Yoga can not only help me in my running around mile 23 when I question what the hell I was thinking, but also when I feel like I am about to become that mom at the grocery store that everyone says they will never be.

Do away with your old habits and start fresh.
Wash away your old opinions,
And new ideas come in.

I think I am hoping that 2013 is just a little more zen.  A little lot of running, a little Yoga and hopefully some calm.

Also, I am almost 100% positive that I will continue to be a horrible blogger well into the year.

  1. You mean I have to wait until mile 23 to question what the hell I was thinking when I'm running in DC in the fall? ;)

Seriously though, I love this and I love you (but you already know that).

And yes, running permits eating like crap!

    1. I read this as I was sprinkling butter soaked corn flakes onto my dinner. Ha!

Thank you and I love you too. :)
